Mirpuri Family Photoshoot

This was my first family shoot and how opportune was it that it was in picturesque Granada! I was thrilled about it!

When I learnt that my husband's cousin and her family lived there and more importantly that they wanted to update their family photos on their walls and create a new album, I was more than game for it. They informed me that it had been three years since their last family shoot and it had been done on a cruise ship. Hence, can you imagine my thrill and joy of shooting in a historic and beautiful city such as Granada!

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and keeping with the mood, we chose a location close to their home. It was a warm summer afternoon, so the sun is at its peak… It was hot, and blazing down on us in all its glory… or fury… depending on your perspective. Now as a photographer, I like light, natural light, but this was becoming a bit too much. It was a difficult shoot in a sense that it was too bright… there was too much of it! [Coming from London, I don’t think I would ever say that, but there, this was indeed the case in Granada!] My style is bright and happy but I didn't want it to be so bright as to hamper what I was trying to do. Sometimes, it is hard to get the right emotions and expressions in extremes. And so, I kept the shoot short and sweet. I didn’t want them inconvenienced in any way, but then I also wanted to get that perfect family portrait that would make it on to the Mirpuri home wall. They were more than willing, they were eager, enthusiastic and keen to get the photos right. And as is usually the case with eager subjects, the photos turned out beautifully. What was more important for me was that when I sent the edited photos, the family loved them!
